2027 Can-Am Outlander XT 700

The 2027 Can-Am Outlander XT 700 is the single-cylinder Outlander with the extras already bolted on: a 3,500-lb winch, heavy-duty bumpers, extra skid protection and power steering.

Who the Outlander XT 700 is for

Property owners, hunters and first-time ATV buyers who want Can-Am’s Rotax power and build quality without paying for a V-twin. The 500/700 Outlanders handle food plots, fence lines and weekend trail rides equally well. The XT suits buyers who know they’ll want a winch and bumpers and would rather not add them piece by piece.

What stands out

• 3,500-lb winch. Pulls you out of a bad spot or drags a downed tree off the trail.
• Heavy-duty front and rear bumpers plus central skid plate. Protection for the parts that take the hits.
• Tri-Mode Dynamic Power Steering. Lighter steering in tight turns and less kickback over roots and ruts, with three assist levels.
• Rotax 650 single, 50 hp and 41 lb-ft (700). The same engine as the 500 in a stronger tune, which you’ll notice most when towing or climbing.
• Selectable 2WD/4WD with auto-locking front differential. Engages when you need traction without constant button pressing.

What’s new for 2027

Every Outlander now uses Can-Am’s pDrive primary clutch, built for quicker response, lower maintenance and long service life. On MAX models, the passenger seat is now removable, so switching between solo and two-up riding takes less effort.

Outlander XT 700 vs. Outlander X mr 700

The X mr is purpose-built for mud, with a snorkeled engine and CVT intake, a relocated radiator and a Visco-4Lok front differential. The XT is the better all-rounder for work and trails. Choose the X mr only if deep mud is a regular part of your riding.

Common questions

500 or 700: which engine do I need?

Both use the same 650cc Rotax single. The 700 is tuned for 50 hp versus 40. For light chores and relaxed trail riding the 500 is plenty. If you’ll tow, carry a passenger or climb steep ground, the 700 is worth the extra money.

Who can ride a Outlander XT 700 in Virginia?

Virginia limits riders under 16 to ATVs of 90cc or less, so this is an adult machine. Every rider must wear an approved helmet, and ATVs aren’t allowed on public roads except to cross one by the most direct route.

Can I carry a passenger?

Not legally. Virginia prohibits passengers on an ATV unless it’s designed and equipped for more than one rider, and this one is built for one. If you want to ride two-up, look at the MAX version.
