Both use the same 650cc Rotax single. The 700 is tuned for 50 hp versus 40. For light chores and relaxed trail riding the 500 is plenty. If you’ll tow, carry a passenger or climb steep ground, the 700 is worth the extra money.

Who can ride a Outlander MAX DPS 700 in Virginia?

Virginia limits riders under 16 to ATVs of 90cc or less, so this is an adult machine. Every rider must wear an approved helmet, and ATVs aren’t allowed on public roads except to cross one by the most direct route.
